YEAMANS HALL CLUB
🇺🇸 Charleston, SC, USA
Designed by Jim Urbina, Seth Raynor, Tom Doak

Yeamans Hall, nestled in the lowcountry of South Carolina, whispers of a bygone era when golf course design prioritized strategy and natural beauty over sheer length. This Golden Age gem, routed through towering pines and across gently rolling terrain, presents a deceptively challenging test. While not a long course by modern standards, Yeamans Hall demands thoughtful shot placement, rewarding the astute player who can navigate its subtly contoured fairways and well-protected greens. The course favors a player with a controlled fade and can master the undulated and multi tiered greens.
Seth Raynor, a disciple of C.B. Macdonald, originally crafted the layout in the 1920s. His signature template holes are beautifully realized, reflecting the strategic principles he learned from his mentor. Subtle updates and renovations over the years have respected Raynor's original vision, ensuring that Yeamans Hall retains its classic character and charm.
Yeamans Hall is known less for hosting grand championships and more for fostering a close-knit membership drawn to its understated elegance. This is a place where golf is celebrated for its inherent pleasures and where camaraderie thrives – often over a post-round glass of sweet tea on the veranda. A haven away from the noise and flash that often accompany the game, Yeamans Hall offers a pure and timeless golfing experience. It is a family oriented club and has been noted for being a place where the members can leave their doors unlocked on their cars and golf carts.
Reviews
Yeamans is a time capsule for golden age golf and life. When you come in the gate down the dirt road you know you’re about to have a great time. The course will play fairly easy for bombers but for average joes accuracy with approach shots is crucial to access certain pins. You’ll walk off wanting to go right back out and play again. They’ve also got the best stocked pro shop in the state, possibly the south east
Seth Raynor is my favorite architect, and this has almost everything you’d want. Template holes, scale, old school bunkering and green complexes. Everything about Yeamans feels like a step back in time. Old Southern Charm
Yeaman’s Hall Club is an excellent golf course, and a true, low-country South Carolina gem. In the mornings it’s a dew sweeper paradise. With carts a 3 hour round is well within reason. Truth be told, it isn’t all that social, but it’s a golfer’s dream
