SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Greensboro, NC, USA
Designed by Donald Ross, Kris Spence

Sedgefield Country Club isn't just a venue; it's where Sam Snead launched his professional career, a legend beginning on these very grounds. The course itself, nestled in the rolling hills of Greensboro, North Carolina, presents a classic parkland challenge dating back to the Golden Age of golf architecture. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers reward thoughtful play more than sheer power; it favors players who can shape shots and navigate the doglegs that define much of the course’s character.
Designed by the esteemed Donald Ross, Sedgefield has seen subtle but significant renovations over the years, most notably by Kris Spence, ensuring its continued relevance in the modern game. While perhaps not mentioned among the titans of the sport, the course’s character and playability have made it a fixture on the PGA Tour, hosting the Wyndham Championship since 2008 and consistently delivering compelling finishes.
Sedgefield offers something more than just a round of golf, in a city known for their peach cobbler. The club fosters a tight-knit community. The course is a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
Reviews
Great course, a lot of history. Highlights are the stretch of 5-11, and 12-15.
Underrated Donald Ross design with rolling hills and well defended green complexes. Greens roll well with intricate slopes. Will have you using most clubs in the bag and from sloping lies. Good ball strikers test with positioning at the forefront of strategy. Par 5’s are risk-reward birdie opportunities. Par 4’s are varied with dog legs at #2, #9, #14 & #17 singled out for memorability. Par 4 #11 is a treat. The Par 3’s require precision distance control. The course reveals some new strategic strategy every round.
