WYNCOTE GOLF CLUB
πΊπΈ Oxford, PA, USA
Designed by Brian Ault
Wyncote Golf Club is Chester County's pastoral escape, a course where the whispers of fox hunting tradition still mingle with the sharp crack of persimmon off the tee. Built across rolling farmlands, this not particularly notable course embraces a modern, forgiving design.
While the architect remains a footnote, the layout unfolds with generous fairways carved through stands of mature trees. This is a course that rewards a confident swing more than pinpoint accuracy; a slight draw is your friend here, as many holes naturally bend from right-to-left. The greens, generally receptive, are subtly contoured, offering a fair putting test.
Wyncote thrives as a community gathering place. Weekday rounds are often followed by informal gatherings at the clubhouse, where members share stories and local gossip over the club's unofficial dish: a perfectly respectable cheesesteak. It's a place where a handshake still means something and the love of the game takes precedence over low scores.
