WORTHINGTON HILLS COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Columbus, OH, USA
Designed by Barry Serafin, Charlie Lorms
Worthington Hills Country Club sits in the northern Columbus suburbs, part of the established Worthington community known for its tree-lined neighborhoods and historic character. The course was designed by Charlie Lorms and Barry Serafin, regional architects active in Ohio during the latter decades of the twentieth century. Their work here reflects the rolling terrain typical of central Ohio, where modest elevation changes and mature hardwood corridors shape the playing corridors.
The routing takes advantage of natural land movement, with holes that turn through wooded sections and open across gentle slopes. Water features appear on several holes, and bunkering follows traditional country club styling—strategic rather than penal, guarding greens and framing landing areas. The design suits a range of skill levels while rewarding thoughtful course management, a hallmark of member-focused layouts from this era.
Worthington Hills functions as a private club serving families in the northern Columbus area. The membership emphasizes golf alongside social and recreational programming typical of suburban country clubs in the Midwest. The club maintains traditions common to its region and era, with dining facilities and event spaces that support both casual and formal gatherings. The course remains a fixture in the local golf community, offering a familiar parkland experience within the Columbus metropolitan area.
Reviews
The Greens here are absolutely fabulous but outside of that there’s nothing to memorable about the course. I’ve been fortunate enough to play WHCC a lot and I absolutely love playing it however, the place but the layout is limited by the surrounding houses and neighborhoods. Every hole is surrounded by houses and there is always excessive external noise from the property’s surrounding the course. The course is fun but there is nothing very memorable about it besides the greens. Overall it’s really well conditioned (especially the greens) but you won’t be blown away by the layout or any of the holes. Very pure but my 3rd favorite course in the Columbus suburb of Worthington.
