Reviews
I played golf at the DIII College of Wooster which is right down the street and I have spent a lot of time at WCC. Wooster CC has hosted three NCAA DIII national championships, the latest being in 1993. The front and back are two completely different courses as the now back nine was built in 1903 and the now front was built in 1974. The course condition has struggled the last few years with a virus as well as redoing a fair amount of bunkers which hasn’t kept the course in great shape but the greens are always great(at least on the front 9). What makes Wooster CC unique is that the back nine greens have never undergone a major renovation and are as a result, the sand foundation has eroded so much that the greens on the back are simply treacherous. With both of the par 3’s on the back being borderline unputtable. However, if you can hit it in the right spots, the back 9 at Wooster CC is truly a unique golf experience as it’s hard to find a 6,500 yard course that defends itself as well as WCC does as there are truly some unique holes out there. The well conditioned greens combined with the slopes can certainly make for a frustrating experience if you constantly get out of position however, the course can be really enjoyable if the fairways are in good shape. This place is sneaky hard and plays much more difficult than its rating especially when the northern Ohio elements come into play.
