BAYWOOD GREENS
🇺🇸 Long Neck, DE, USA
Designed by Bill Love
Baywood Greens operates as a public facility in Long Neck, Delaware, positioned in the coastal region between Rehoboth Beach and the Delaware Bay. The property features two distinct nines—Woodside and Waterside—designed by Bill Love, a regional architect who has worked on several courses throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The layout takes advantage of the area's relatively flat coastal plain topography, characteristic of Delaware's lower peninsula.
The Woodside nine typically plays through more wooded corridors with tree-lined fairways, while the Waterside nine incorporates water features and wetland areas into its design, reflecting the property's proximity to coastal waterways. This dual-character routing is common in Delaware golf, where courses often transition between forested upland and marsh-influenced lowland terrain. The combination provides variety in both visual setting and strategic demands across the eighteen holes.
The course serves the busy summer golf market along Delaware's coast, drawing visitors to the beach communities as well as local residents. Long Neck sits in a region that has seen considerable golf development since the 1990s, with multiple courses catering to the seasonal tourism economy. Baywood Greens offers a straightforward public golf experience without the formality of private club traditions, focusing on accessibility and playability for a wide range of golfers visiting or living in the area.
Reviews
While very much an inland course Baywood seems to be THE course people recommend when in southern Delaware. The practice facilities are top notch: a great range, 2 large putting greens, and a chipping area. The land is great mix of woods, marsh, and straight up water. And the layout is the real deal. Rock solid collection of par 3s, tempting par 5s, and a variety of par 4s that always keep you on your toes. While not as pristine as the private clubs in the area, Baywood still manages to punch above its weight with its high quality routing. While you may have to pay around $200 for this track ( I encourage you to take your time and find a deal, $100 is doable at times) it’s a must play when in Delaware. The par 4 14th with the island fairway is worth the price on its own. There’s risk reward in bunches at Baywood and matchplay thrives here. The pace has always been strong when I’ve played and the greens run true. Baywood is worthy of its status as an elite Delaware public track.
