WOKEFIELD PARK GOLF CLUB
🏴 Gladstone, Berkshire, England
Designed by Jonathan Gaunt
Wokefield Park occupies a 250-acre estate in Berkshire, roughly six miles west of Reading. The course was designed by Jonathan Gaunt and opened in the mid-1990s as part of a larger hotel and leisure development centered on a Georgian manor house. The estate's mature woodland and rolling parkland provided the setting for a layout that incorporates both open meadowland and tree-lined corridors, with several holes routed through more heavily wooded sections that create distinct playing environments across the round.
The design makes use of the property's natural elevation changes, particularly on the back nine where the routing moves through higher ground with views across the Berkshire countryside. Water features prominently on several holes, including ponds and streams that come into play on approach shots and around greens. The course measures over 6,600 yards from the back tees and presents a test suited to mid-handicap and improving players, with strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward accurate iron play.
Wokefield Park operates as a members' club with hotel guest access, and the facility includes extensive practice areas and a clubhouse integrated with the estate's hotel amenities. The course serves both local membership and visiting golfers staying at the property, offering a parkland experience within reasonable reach of the M4 corridor and Greater London.
