WINDSONG FARM GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Maple Plain, MN, USA
Designed by John Fought

Windsong Farm, carved into the rolling farmland west of Minneapolis, is as much a testament to Midwestern tenacity as it is to championship golf. D.A. Weibring’s design, reflective of a Modern aesthetic with its sculpted bunkering and strategic mounding, subtly belies the challenge that awaits. It's a course where power can be rewarded, but rarely without the thoughtful navigation of deceptive doglegs and greens that subtly break toward the surrounding countryside. It rewards the player who considers the approach and execution of their shots.
Weibring and Steve Wolfard crafted a layout that requires intelligent play but is not necessarily punishing. Windsong asks players to engage with the landscape, not simply conquer it with brute force. While it has not hosted a major championship, the course has been a consistent proving ground for top amateurs in the region, drawing a membership that appreciates both the challenge and the camaraderie found within its fairways.
The social fabric of Windsong is further enhanced by the understated elegance of the clubhouse, where members, a mix of local business leaders and passionate golfers, gather to discuss the day's rounds. While no single dish dominates the culinary conversation, the consistent quality of the fare mirrors the club’s commitment to an experience that's both refined and genuinely welcoming. Windsong Farm offers an escape from the city's hustle, a place where the pursuit of a lower score is secondary to the enjoyment of the game and the company.
Reviews
Should be a more talked about course. The closing 6 holes are remarkable.
Really strong golf club. Several memorable shots and a wonderfully maintained golf course. Feels very “big” but demands precision. I’ve only played it once (on a very windy day with an injury) but I could tell it was different and a few cuts above the normal country club. The “no hats indoors” policy touched my heart.
Have only played the South course. Just golf and they do it very well.
Truly think this is one of the best hidden gems. Never mentioned with the top courses in Minnesota and I think it’s a disservice. This is as good of a golf course as I’ve ever seen. Awesome vibe there would be my first choice for membership in Minnesota. Just in perfect condition at all times. Very difficult course as well. A fall day out there is as good as it gets anywhere and I’ll stand on that.
Hard as hell. Could host a Tour event pretty easily. Great conditions, cool vibe, awesome location. I still have never made better than an 8 on 18 and I’m a scratch
