Willbrook Plantation at Willbrook Plantation Golf Club

Willbrook Plantation occupies former rice plantation land along the Waccamaw River near Pawleys Island, part of South Carolina's historic Lowcountry. Dan Maples designed the course in the late 1980s, routing it through mature hardwoods, wetlands, and remnants of the antebellum plantation infrastructure. The property's agricultural past remains visible in old rice field dikes and irrigation channels that Maples incorporated into the golf design, giving the layout a sense of place distinct from the region's more resort-oriented courses.

The routing takes advantage of the natural topography and water features inherent to former rice cultivation. Several holes play along or across wetland areas, while others move through corridors of live oaks draped with Spanish moss. The course presents a traditional parkland character with generous fairway corridors, though strategic bunkering and the ever-present water require thoughtful club selection and course management. Maples designed the layout to accommodate a range of skill levels while preserving the historical landscape elements.

Willbrook Plantation operates as a semi-private facility serving both members and daily-fee players.
