WILDFLOWER GOLF CLUB AT FAIR HILLS RESORT
🇺🇸 Detroit Lakes, MN, USA
Designed by Joel Goldstrand

Wildflower Golf Club at Fair Hills Resort sits in the lake country of west-central Minnesota, near Detroit Lakes, a region known for its rolling glacial terrain and dense stands of hardwoods and pines. The course was designed by Joel Goldstrand, a Minnesota-based architect whose work appears primarily across the Upper Midwest. Goldstrand's designs typically emphasize playability for resort guests while incorporating the natural movement and character of the land.
The routing at Wildflower makes use of the property's elevation changes and wooded corridors, with fairways carved through mature forest and holes that transition between open meadow areas and tree-lined playing corridors. The glacial topography provides natural undulation, and several holes feature elevated tees or greens that take advantage of the terrain. Water comes into play on select holes, consistent with the lake-dotted landscape of the region.
As part of Fair Hills Resort, the course serves both resort guests and local members, offering a relaxed atmosphere typical of northern Minnesota golf destinations. The facility caters to visitors seeking a combination of golf and lake recreation during the short but active summer season. Conditioning and pace of play reflect the resort's focus on accessible, enjoyable golf rather than championship-level challenge. The surrounding area offers fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities that draw families and groups to the Detroit Lakes area throughout the warmer months.
Reviews
Really fun place to play when it’s not blowing 20-30 mph. Significant elevation change, great variety of holes. 8-10 may be terrible but everything else is so good that I always look forward to coming back
