WHITEFACE CLUB & RESORT
🇺🇸 Lake Placid, NY, USA
Designed by John Van Kleek

Whiteface Club & Resort sits in the Adirondack Mountains near Lake Placid, New York, a region known for its Olympic legacy and dramatic natural scenery. The course was designed by John Van Kleek, an architect active in the northeastern United States during the early-to-mid twentieth century. The layout occupies terrain characteristic of the Adirondacks, with elevation changes, forested corridors, and views toward the surrounding peaks, including Whiteface Mountain itself, which rises prominently to the northeast.
The routing takes advantage of the property's natural contours, moving through a mix of open and wooded areas. Holes often play across rolling ground, and the design incorporates natural features such as rock outcroppings and mature trees that define playing corridors and frame approach shots. The course reflects the traditional resort golf style of its era, offering a layout that balances challenge with accessibility for members and guests visiting the Lake Placid area.
Whiteface Club & Resort functions as a private club with resort amenities, serving both members and visitors staying at the property. The club's setting in Lake Placid places it within a broader recreational and cultural landscape shaped by winter sports, outdoor recreation, and the region's history as a destination for travelers seeking mountain scenery. The golf course contributes to the resort's year-round appeal, providing a mountain golf experience in one of New York's most distinctive natural environments.
Reviews
Fantastic track located way up in Lake Placid, NY. Not the most manicured course out there, but fantastic fun with great elevation change and challenging holes. Stay away in spring time during black fly season! Otherwise great forest/mountain course with nice vistas
