WHEATLEY HILLS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 East Williston, NY, USA
Designed by Devereux Emmet

Wheatley Hills, a Long Island fixture since its founding in 1913, represents a charming confluence of old-school golf tradition and accessible playability just east of the New York City bustle. The course itself, while not nationally renowned, has served as a cherished haven for generations of local golfers.
Architect Devereux Emmet crafted a classic parkland layout on gently rolling terrain. The relatively short distances and tree-lined fairways place a premium on strategic shot-making rather than brute power. Subtle doglegs and well-placed bunkers reward thoughtful approaches to the green. It’s a layout where a well-executed fade can be a golfer’s best friend.
While Wheatley Hills may not boast major championship pedigree, it’s renowned locally for its unpretentious atmosphere and tight-knit community. Many members are multi-generational, having learned the game within its borders. There's a tangible sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the course, often fueled by lively debates in the clubhouse after a round.
Reviews
Overshadowed given it is one the best golf destination in the world but it is an awesome classical design. Course you can play every day with good architecture. Greens were super fun and not a stuffy club at all.
Absurdly good conditions. Some of the best I've seen. Lightning greens. Experienced a HIO in my group.
