WEST SHORE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Camp Hill, PA, USA
Designed by Dan Schlegel, George Morris, Gil Hanse

West Shore Country Club, nestled just outside Harrisburg, is a Mid-Atlantic mainstay where challenging golf intersects with a deeply-rooted sense of community. Built in the late 1920s, the course presents a classic parkland layout, carved into gently rolling terrain dotted with mature hardwoods that frame each hole and penalize wayward drives, requiring strategic shot-making above pure distance.
Designed by Donald Ross protégé, Alex Findlay, the course's initial routing has remained largely unchanged, though subtle refinements over the years have kept it relevant for the modern game. Wide fairways offer the promise of ample landing areas, but their undulating nature and cleverly placed bunkers demand careful consideration of approach shots and the ability to handle uneven lies. Its signature par 3, the 8th, drops drastically downhill to a well-protected green, demanding precise club selection.
West Shore fosters a particularly strong junior golf program, with many of its young members going on to compete at collegiate levels. While it hasn't hosted any national championships, its annual club championship carries significant prestige within the local golfing community, and draws spectators in the area. And if there's anything that West Shore is known for, it's the club's famous oyster house, a popular spot where members can gather to celebrate a great round, and to enjoy some of the finest oysters.
