WEST POINT GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 West Point, NY, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

Nestled within the storied grounds of West Point, the West Point Golf Course carries the weight of military tradition alongside its engaging course design. A parkland layout routed through the undulating hills overlooking the Hudson River Valley, its defining characteristics are the challenging elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers that demand thoughtful club selection and course management.
Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course's mid-century bones have been subtly updated over time to accommodate modern equipment, yet the core strategy remains true to Jones' vision. Fairways often favor a controlled fade, rewarding players who can navigate the doglegs and blind approaches with precision. While not a championship venue of global renown, the course provides a stern test for cadets, faculty, and guests alike.
The camaraderie amongst the members is palpable, often revolving around post-round gatherings at the clubhouse, where stories of daring shots and near misses are traded. The echoes of history resonate throughout the grounds, a constant reminder of the leadership, duty, and honor that define the academy, and shape the unique character of this remarkable golf experience.
Reviews
Playing this on July 4th was surreal experience. The course is not only beautiful and a perfect example of mountain golf in the Hudson Valley, but each hole recognizes wars and conflicts throughout U.S. history citing heroic efforts by West Point Graduates. The new clubhouse and practice facilities rival some of the best golf clubs in the world, while it does not have the “classic” feel of some famous clubhouses in the NYC area it rivals them in its design and how it seamlessly fits into the course. I highly recommend playing here and taking time to read the signs on tee boxes to celebrate the men and women who are willing to pay the ultimate price to keep us free.
