MERCER OAKS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Princeton Junction, NJ, USA
Designed by Brian Ault

West at Mercer Oaks, carved from the rolling landscape of West Windsor Township, delivers a classic public golf experience steeped in accessible challenge. Designed in the late 1990s, the layout lacks the pedigree of a Golden Age masterpiece, instead embracing a modern, player-friendly aesthetic. The open, parkland-style course, devoid of dramatic elevation changes, favors the player who can consistently find the fairway. Errant shots are penalized, not by thick rough, but by strategically placed bunkers and water hazards that demand thoughtful course management.
The course is a popular haunt for central Jersey golfers seeking an enjoyable round without pretense, with a thriving men's and women's club, along with a robust junior program.
While not a household name on the national stage, West at Mercer Oaks offers a straightforward and enjoyable round. The club has fostered a local following with those in the community who love the game and value accessibility above all else. Afterwards golfers are usually seen in the clubhouse grill for a casual bite and local brew.
Reviews
This is my local muni course and it has everything that a local uni needs. Decent practice range (it would be so much better if they opened the grass range that they have, but for some reason it’s always closed), cheap tee times, alright course conditions, decent course mapping/layout (holes seven and nine are my personal favorites), fairly quiet, and they have a nice bar to go to after you finish the round. Is it fantastic? Certainly not, there are plenty of things that could be better. The conditions of the greens are not the best, but it’s playable. The course can get pretty packed so pace of play is a hit or miss, (I do feel like people try to keep up with pace even when it’s packed though). That being said, there’s great value here. Overall it’s fun to have this place so close to home and is a fun time to play. And cheap. Sidenote: the west course is a lot better than East
