Kasumigaseki gained international prominence when the West Course hosted the 1957 Canada Cup (now the World Cup of Golf), marking the first time a major international golf event was held in Asia. More recently, it served as the venue for the golf competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, introducing the course to a global television audience.
