BENTWATER YACHT & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Montgomery, TX, USA
Designed by Jay Morrish, Tom Weiskopf

The Weiskopf Course at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club occupies rolling terrain along Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas, approximately forty miles north of Houston. Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed the course during their collaborative period in the 1980s and early 1990s, when the partnership produced numerous layouts across the southern United States. The design takes advantage of the property's natural elevation changes and pine forest setting, characteristics that distinguish this part of Montgomery County from the flatter coastal plain closer to Houston.
The routing moves through corridors of loblolly pine and hardwoods, with several holes playing along or near the lake. Weiskopf and Morrish incorporated the site's topography into their design strategy, creating holes that use slopes and elevation shifts to add dimension to approach shots and green complexes. The course features the large, contoured putting surfaces typical of Weiskopf's design philosophy, along with strategic bunkering that rewards accurate placement from the tee.
Bentwater functions as a private residential community with yacht club amenities reflecting its lakefront location. The club maintains two eighteen-hole courses, with the Weiskopf Course serving as the primary championship layout. The facility caters to members who value both golf and boating access on Lake Conroe, and the club's programming reflects this dual recreational focus. The course remains a regional option for golfers in the northern Houston metropolitan area seeking a private club experience in a wooded, lakeside setting.
