WEDGEWOOD COVE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Albert Lea, MN, USA
Designed by Garrett Gill, Jonathan Schmenk

Wedgewood Cove stands as Albert Lea’s enduring testament to accessible, enjoyable golf, a place where the spirit of friendly competition thrives more than any pursuit of championship pedigree. The course winds through open Midwestern farmland, its broad fairways and gently rolling terrain offering a pleasant, rather than punishing, round. Built on former cornfields, the layout plays in a more links-inspired style, with few trees in play and an emphasis on wind, ground conditions, and freedom from the tee. While the course doesn’t favor any particular shot shape, its width allows players to swing aggressively, rewarding confident driving and straightforward execution.
Architect Dave Gill’s original design has seen subtle refinements over the years, maintaining its playability for golfers of all skill levels. While Wedgewood Cove hasn’t hosted any national championships, its local tournaments are fiercely contested and deeply cherished, reflecting the tight-knit community that calls it home.
More than the golf itself, Wedgewood Cove is known for its welcoming atmosphere. Members often gather at the nineteenth hole, not just to rehash rounds but to share stories and camaraderie. It’s a place where laughter carries across the property, and the simple pleasure of a well-struck shot is celebrated alongside the company of friends.
