WEDGEWOOD GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Powell, OH, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Wedgewood Golf & Country Club, a bastion of Ohio golf in Powell, whispers tales of Jack Nicklaus's early design prowess – a formative chapter in the Golden Bear's architectural legacy. Its rolling, parkland layout, sculpted from the central Ohio landscape, presents golfers with strategic choices from tee to green. The generous fairways invite aggressive play, but subtle undulations and strategically placed bunkers penalize imprecision. A course that doesn't necessarily punish the modest player, and provides ample opportunity for a good score.
Designed early in Nicklaus's career, Wedgewood represents a time before his penchant for penal design became more pronounced. Its defenses, while challenging, are rooted in classic course architecture: angles, strategic bunkering, and greens that demand thoughtful approach play. Locals note Wedgewood fostered a vibrant, competitive spirit among its membership.
While never a stop on the professional tour, Wedgewood has held numerous regional amateur championships. The membership, a mix of business leaders and golf enthusiasts, values the club's relaxed atmosphere and commitment to traditional golf values.
Reviews
Wedgewood is a proper test of golf with some awesome facilities. I only have played it pre renovation but would love the chance to play it again. I thought that wedgewood has some awesome holes but then some that were a little boring or repetitive. I think that with some improved hole designs and adding some creativity to the green complex that this course could have a higher rating. I think that the course conditions are awesome and love how pure the course plays.
