WAMPANOAG COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 West Hartford, CT, USA
Designed by Donald Ross

Wampanoag Country Club, a stalwart of West Hartford, Connecticut, whispers tales of titans who once strode its fairways. The course, carved from the rolling New England landscape, is a classic parkland design that rewards strategic play over brute force.
Originally conceived by the legendary Donald Ross, Wampanoag presents a balanced test. Relatively open fairways, subtle doglegs and deceptively undulating greens demand thoughtful approaches. The greens, often firm and fast, are the course's true defense.
While Wampanoag hasn't hosted major championships, it remains a respected venue in the region, fostering a strong sense of community amongst its members. It is rumored that the club's clam chowder is the subject of fierce debate, and the winner of the annual club championship gets a year of bragging rights.
Reviews
Haven’t played it since the renovation. Central Connecticut architecture is weak so any changes get people hyped up. I’m sure it’s good but if you dropped it in southern CT or NY, it would be good not great.
