Victory at Verrado Golf Club

Victory at Verrado Golf Club is a desert-style course in Buckeye, Arizona, designed by Tom Lehman and opened in 2002. Lehman, a former British Open champion and longtime PGA Tour professional, brought a player's perspective to the routing, which takes advantage of the natural elevation changes in the White Tank Mountains foothills. The course sits within the master-planned Verrado community, roughly thirty miles west of Phoenix, where the Sonoran Desert landscape provides both scenic backdrop and strategic challenge.

The layout moves through arroyos and across ridgelines, with fairways framed by native desert vegetation including saguaro cacti, palo verde, and ocotillo. Lehman incorporated risk-reward options throughout the design, offering multiple routes on several holes while maintaining playability for a range of skill levels. Elevation changes are significant in places, creating downhill tee shots and approach angles that require careful club selection. Bunkering is strategic rather than penal, and the greens feature moderate contour suited to the desert environment.

Victory serves as one of two courses at Verrado, complementing the Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw-designed Founders Course. The club operates as part of the residential community, with membership and daily-fee access available depending on season and demand. The course reflects Lehman's understanding of competitive golf while remaining accessible to resort and public play, typical of Arizona's desert golf market in the early 2000s.
