WHISPER ROCK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Scottsdale, AZ, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio
Whisper Rock's Upper Course, carved into the high Sonoran Desert of North Scottsdale, is a proving ground forged in the spirit of friendly competition. Though newer than its Lower sibling, it has quickly established its own distinct identity.
Designed by Phil Mickelson and Jim Hardy, the Upper Course unfolds across a landscape dotted with saguaros and ironwood. Playing longer than the Lower, the fairways are generous, tempting players to unleash drives. Approach shots, however, demand more precision, often played into subtly contoured greens guarded by strategically placed bunkers, rewarding strategic play over brute force. It favors a high ball flight and smart angles.
While not a championship venue, the Upper Course benefits from the discerning membership's low handicaps. It’s a place where matches are hotly contested and the constant hum of wagers is as much a part of the experience as the desert breeze. The relaxed atmosphere, where members regularly forgo collared shirts, belies the intensity of the games.
Reviews
One of the best days you can have in AZ. Insane conditioning, great membership. So fun. Would love to play it daily.
Great conditioning, unreal practice facilities, and a very fun spot. But the golf courses are almost secondary to how great a place this club is. It’s all about the hang.
