UNIONTOWN COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Uniontown, PA, USA
Designed by Emil Loeffler, John McGlynn, Ron Forse

Uniontown Country Club sits in the rolling hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, approximately 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The course was originally designed by Emil Loeffler in the 1920s, a period when many clubs in western Pennsylvania were establishing or refining their layouts. Loeffler, a Philadelphia-based architect, created numerous courses throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region during the early twentieth century. John McGlynn later contributed modifications to the design, and Ron Forse, known for his restoration work on classic American courses, has been involved in more recent updates that have sought to recapture or enhance the original design intent.
The layout takes advantage of the natural terrain characteristic of the Laurel Highlands region, with elevation changes and wooded corridors framing many holes. The property features the kind of topographical variety common to courses built in this era and location—holes that move through valleys, climb modest ridges, and incorporate natural contours into green complexes and fairway strategy. The routing reflects the golden age design principles Loeffler employed, emphasizing strategic options rather than pure length.
Uniontown Country Club serves as a traditional private club for the local community, maintaining the kind of member-focused atmosphere typical of established country clubs in smaller Pennsylvania cities. The course provides a venue for regional amateur competitions and club championships while preserving the character of early American course architecture in a part of the state rich with golf history.
Reviews
Not a ton of trouble or strategy but literally the smallest greens I’ve ever played. (We’re talking maybe 1/3 the size of a normal green) Short sided no matter what direction you miss, but they’re flat and not super fast so practice your short game. 10 is the most uphill blind par 4 I think I’ve seen, unless you hit something with loft it can skip off the fairway mid ball flight
