TROUBADOUR GOLF AND FIELD CLUB
🇺🇸 College Grove, TN, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio

Troubadour Golf and Field Club, nestled in the rolling hills of College Grove, Tennessee, is a modern interpretation of classic Southern golf, embracing the area's natural beauty and equestrian heritage.
Designed by architect Gil Hanse, known for his minimalist approach, the course unfolds across open fields and wooded hillsides. It favors strategic play over brute force, with subtle undulations and thoughtfully placed hazards that reward clever angles and precise approach shots, although the fairways offer ample landing space for those less inclined to finesse. This isn't a links-style challenge imported from across the Atlantic, but rather a distinctly American layout that blends seamlessly with the Tennessee landscape. The course's modern design philosophy is on display, offering a counterpoint to the more traditional layouts found throughout the region.
The Club's social scene, fueled by its members’ passion for golf, tennis, and equestrian pursuits, is as vibrant as the course itself. In keeping with the area, it is known for its family atmosphere. While Troubadour hasn't hosted major championships, its appeal lies in providing an understated, luxurious experience that resonates with a discerning membership rather than chasing headlines.
Beyond the course, a unique tradition has emerged: the "Troubadour Tailgate," a casual gathering after weekend rounds where members share stories and barbecue, a nod to the region's rich culinary heritage.
Reviews
Troubodor is all about the experience from service to on course. You’ll usually see a lot of celebrities out and about while you’re on property. Golf course is ok, I think the original Hideaway Hills was a little better design.
