TREASURE HILLS COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Harlingen, TX, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones

Treasure Hills Country Club sits in Harlingen, in the Rio Grande Valley of far southern Texas, roughly thirty miles from the Gulf of Mexico. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and opened in the mid-1960s, part of the prolific period when Jones was shaping courses across the United States with his signature strategic style. The layout occupies relatively flat terrain typical of the coastal plain, and Jones used his characteristic design elements—large, contoured greens, strategic bunkering, and water hazards—to create definition and challenge on land that offers little natural elevation change.
The course serves a membership that includes both year-round residents and seasonal visitors, as the Rio Grande Valley attracts a significant winter population drawn by the mild climate. Treasure Hills has hosted regional amateur competitions over the decades, contributing to competitive golf in a part of Texas somewhat removed from the state's major metropolitan centers. The flat landscape allows for wide fairways and open sightlines, though mature trees planted at establishment now frame many holes and influence strategy.
Jones designed the course to reward accurate approach play into greens that feature his typical undulation and size, demanding precise distance control. Water comes into play on several holes, a common feature in Valley courses where irrigation infrastructure supports lush conditions in an otherwise semi-arid climate. The club maintains traditional country club amenities and serves as a social and recreational hub for the Harlingen community.
Reviews
Layout is a tight. Course can be tricky just due to the poor conditions off the fairway. Not very long. If you are finding fairways the course can be attacked. Actually designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. which is cool. Back 9 is better than the front nine.
