TPC AT SUMMERLIN
🇺🇸 Las Vegas, NV, USA
Designed by Bobby Weed, Fuzzy Zoeller

TPC Summerlin opened in 1991 as a collaboration between PGA Tour player Fuzzy Zoeller and architect Bobby Weed. The course sits in the master-planned community of Summerlin on the western edge of Las Vegas, with the Spring Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop to the high desert setting. The design occupies rolling terrain with elevation changes that are significant by Las Vegas standards, offering views across the valley and utilizing the natural contours to create strategic interest.
The routing moves through stands of mature pines and cottonwoods, a relative rarity in the desert environment, giving the course a more parkland character than many other Las Vegas layouts. Water comes into play on several holes, and the bunkering style reflects early 1990s TPC design principles with substantial sand complexes around greens. The par-3 17th hole, playing downhill to an island green, serves as a signature feature and has produced dramatic moments in tournament play.
TPC Summerlin has hosted a PGA Tour event since 1983, initially at other Las Vegas venues before the tournament moved here permanently in 1991. The event, currently known as the Shriners Children's Open, typically takes place in October and attracts a strong field during the fall portion of the Tour schedule. The course setup for tournament week emphasizes scoring opportunities, with winning totals often reaching well into the twenties under par, reflecting both the design's accessibility and the favorable playing conditions typical of the Las Vegas autumn.
Reviews
Home of a PGA event for many years. Immaculate shape, has some interesting holes. Probably won’t win any architectural awards but at the same time most who play it will be pleased
