TPC AT RIVER HIGHLANDS
🇺🇸 Cromwell, CT, USA
Designed by Bobby Weed, Maurice Kearney, Robert Ross
TPC River Highlands is the rare tournament venue where eagles feel more inevitable than surprising, a testament to its risk-reward setup over the gently rolling landscape of Cromwell, Connecticut. Routed in the classic parkland style, the course—originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and later refined by Pete Dye and Bobby Weed—favors creativity and shot-making over brute force. The short par 4s, in particular, present tantalizing opportunities for aggressive plays and potential disaster, a key ingredient in the course's enduring appeal.
The back nine, wrapping around the Connecticut River, is where River Highlands truly shines. While not a long course, the closing holes are a masterclass in strategic design, where water hazards and well-placed bunkers demand precision and nerve. It's here that the Travelers Championship unfolds each year, its dramatic finishes adding to the course's legacy. The final stretch is memorable and can make or break a golfer's round.
While River Highlands might not be mentioned in the same breath as other major championship venues, its accessibility and consistently entertaining play have cemented its place as a popular stop on the PGA Tour.

Bunch of greens under Reno.
Course I grew up on so I am very biased, but love River Highlands. Fun layout with a terrific closing stretch. Practice facilities are unmatched.
