TPC of The Twin Cities opened in 2000 as a collaboration between Arnold Palmer and Tom Lehman, a Minnesota native who contributed local knowledge and competitive insight to the design. The course occupies rolling terrain in Blaine, a northern suburb of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and was built to serve both as a tournament venue and a daily-fee facility accessible to the public. The property features a mix of open and wooded areas typical of the upper Midwest, with mature trees framing several holes and water hazards coming into play throughout the round.
The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes, creating variety in shot values and visual interest across the layout. Several holes incorporate risk-reward elements, particularly around the greens, where Palmer's characteristic bold bunkering and contouring demand precise approach play. The course has hosted professional events on various developmental tours, providing tournament-caliber conditions and setup for competitive play while remaining approachable for recreational golfers.
As part of the TPC Network, the facility emphasizes accessibility and service, offering a range of tees to accommodate different skill levels. The course reflects Palmer's design philosophy of creating strategic options without excessive penal features, allowing players to choose aggressive or conservative lines based on their ability and confidence. The setting provides a relatively open feel compared to heavily forested Minnesota courses, with views across the property and a parkland character that suits the region's golf season.
Reviews
Fun to play when it’s set up for the tournament. Underwhelming otherwise. Conditions and practice facilities are top tier.
Honestly love this place a ton. Love the neighborhood area it winds through with beautiful water and trees framing the holes. The track itself is not difficult at face value. Playing from the tournament tees certainly brought more long irons into play. Greens are in fantastic condition. Went out on a Tuesday morning twosome and flew around the track. Great food at the halfway house.
Yes, this is a bottom tier PGA tour event because of this golf course. It’s in a bit of suburban hell, lots of uninspired looks and holes throughout. However, there’s a few holes that are good to great and I think it’s a little underrated. 5,7,10,14,16 and 18 all are interesting and thoughtful holes.
