TPC Boston, carved into the undulating landscape of Norton, Massachusetts, is a modern monument to tournament golf. It's a course where, for years, the game's elite battled during the Deutsche Bank Championship/Dell Technologies Championship, each Labor Day weekend providing a compelling prelude to the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Originally crafted by Arnold Palmer in 2003, the course was later refined by Gil Hanse, injecting a more rugged, naturalistic feel into the layout. TPC Boston favors power, with generous fairways that reward aggressive play off the tee, though intelligently placed bunkers and subtly contoured greens demand a deft touch on approach. A local caddie anecdote speaks of the 13th hole being Arnie's favorite, requiring a tee shot that demands both courage and conviction to navigate the dogleg over water.
While not steeped in the same century-old traditions as some of its New England counterparts, TPC Boston has nonetheless cemented its place as a stern test, one where the modern golfer is challenged to unleash their full arsenal. Though its professional tournament legacy ended in 2018, it continues to be a highly sought after championship venue, hosting events such as the 2020 Massachusetts Amateur Championship, further solidifying the TPC's place as a proving ground for the next generation.
Reviews
Strategic bunkering all around with a pristine finishing stretch. 16, 17, 18 is a true test to finish up.
It’s hard. Not overly memorable for most of the round until the final 3. It’s a solid take but gets a lot of play so don’t expect to be blown away but fairways and greens. Great practice area. Solid clubhouse. Fun finishing hole.
