TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 St. Paul, MN, USA
Designed by George McRee, Willie Watson

Town & Country Club sits in the western suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota, and traces its origins to the early twentieth century. The course was designed by George McRee and Willie Watson, figures associated with the formative era of Minnesota golf. The layout occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the region, with mature tree-lined fairways and modest elevation changes that provide natural definition and strategic interest throughout the round.
The club has long been a fixture in the Twin Cities golf community, maintaining a traditional private club atmosphere and a membership rooted in the St. Paul area. Its routing takes advantage of the property's wooded character, with holes that move through corridors of hardwoods and require thoughtful navigation rather than overwhelming length. The design reflects the strategic principles of its era, rewarding accuracy and course management over pure distance.
Town & Country has hosted various regional amateur competitions over the decades, contributing to Minnesota's rich golf tradition. The club's facilities and dining offerings support the social dimension typical of established private clubs in the Midwest, where golf is woven into a broader community experience. The course remains a respected layout among Minnesota golfers, valued for its playability, conditioning, and the quiet, wooded setting that distinguishes it from more open prairie-style designs found elsewhere in the state.
Reviews
A friend recently told me that T&C is his litmus test. If someone hates it (many do) then they’re just not on his intellectual level. And I agree! Sure, there are some blind shots and a lot of quirk but it’s an excellent golf course with a built in variety that you wouldn’t replicate today. And that’s a shame because this club is excellent.
