Tomahawk at Natanis Golf Club

The Tomahawk Course at Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro, Maine, opened in 1999 as a companion to the club's original layout. Phil Wogan, a Maine-based designer who created the first course at Natanis in the 1960s, collaborated with Dan Maples on this second eighteen. Maples, known for his work throughout the Carolinas and New England, brought his experience with resort-style courses to central Maine's rolling terrain. The design occupies land characterized by elevation changes and natural wooded corridors typical of the region's inland landscape.

The routing takes advantage of the property's topography, moving through stands of pine and hardwood with holes that play across varied ground. The course incorporates water features and strategic bunkering that require golfers to consider risk and reward on approach shots. Natanis operates as a semi-private facility, making both courses accessible to public play while maintaining a membership base. The club sits roughly fifteen miles north of Augusta, serving golfers from the state capital and surrounding communities in the Kennebec Valley.

The Tomahawk Course complements the original Natanis layout by offering a different playing experience on the same property.
