TIPPECANOE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Monticello, IN, USA
Designed by Joseph A. Roseman, Pete Dye

Tippecanoe Country Club sits in Monticello, a small town in north-central Indiana known primarily for its proximity to Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman, reservoirs created in the 1920s along the Tippecanoe River. The course was originally designed by Joseph A. Roseman, a regional architect active in the Midwest during the mid-twentieth century, though Pete Dye later contributed work to the layout. Dye, an Indiana native who grew up in nearby Urbana, Ohio, and maintained strong ties to the state throughout his career, brought his characteristic design sensibilities to the routing.
The course occupies relatively flat terrain typical of northern Indiana, with mature tree-lined fairways and water features that reflect the area's lake-country setting. Dye's involvement likely introduced strategic elements and bunkering patterns consistent with his broader body of work, though Tippecanoe remains a traditional private club rather than a tournament venue or widely recognized championship layout.
The club serves as a recreational and social center for the Monticello community and surrounding White County area. Like many small-town country clubs in the Midwest, it provides a setting for member golf, family activities, and local events. The course offers a straightforward test of golf suited to a range of playing abilities, with design features that reward accuracy and course management over pure length.
Reviews
Makes for a fun round, it is way nicer than you would expect for the price/location. I’ve heard that recently that isn’t the case as the quality has slipped in the last year. The opening holes have you playing along the lake. The last few on the front and the entire back half has you all inland. Theres some variation and clever designs to a lot of holes which helps as this part of Indiana is mostly flat. #10 feels a bit gimmicky and out of place vs the rest of the course, but overall it makes for a wonderful round that will test all kinds of shots in your bag.
