THORN APPLE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Galloway, OH, USA
Designed by Jack Kidwell

Thorn Apple Country Club sits in Galloway, a western suburb of Columbus, Ohio, and features a layout designed by Jack Kidwell. Kidwell, a regional architect active primarily in the Midwest during the latter half of the twentieth century, created a number of courses throughout Ohio and neighboring states. His work typically emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating the natural terrain and vegetation of each site.
The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of central Ohio, with mature tree-lined fairways and water features that come into play on several holes. The routing takes advantage of elevation changes that are modest but sufficient to create variety in stance and shot selection. Thorn Apple serves as the centerpiece of a private country club that provides traditional amenities including dining and social facilities for its membership.
As a private club in the Columbus metropolitan area, Thorn Apple functions primarily as a venue for member play and club events rather than tournament competition. The course reflects the priorities of mid-century country club design: a layout that accommodates regular member rounds while offering enough challenge and strategic interest to remain engaging over repeated play. The club maintains the course conditions and traditions typical of established private clubs in the region.
Reviews
Was able to get a twilight round here for $16 so I really can’t complain as the value was there. I thought the layout of this course was very interesting but I’m not sure it was in a good way. The greens were in decent shape when I played but the rest of the course wasn’t that great. My first impressions of it weren’t to great but I would be interested in giving it another try due to the fair price
