THE WILDS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Prior Lake, MN, USA
Designed by Jay Morrish, Tom Weiskopf

The Wilds Golf Club occupies rolling, wooded terrain in Prior Lake, approximately twenty-five miles southwest of Minneapolis. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and opened in the mid-1990s, the course represents the collaborative work of a partnership known for routing golf holes through natural landscapes with minimal earthmoving. The property features mature hardwood forests, wetlands, and significant elevation changes uncommon in this part of Minnesota, giving the layout a character distinct from the flatter agricultural land typical of much of the upper Midwest.
The routing moves through corridors of oak, maple, and birch, with fairways that rise and fall across the glacial topography. Weiskopf and Morrish preserved much of the existing woodland, creating playing corridors that feel secluded and visually separated from one another. The design emphasizes strategic options from the tee and approaches that reward accurate iron play into greens with meaningful contour. Water features appear on several holes, integrated into the natural drainage patterns of the site.
The Wilds operates as a private club and maintains a reputation for conditioning that highlights the design's integration with the landscape. The course has hosted regional amateur competitions and remains a well-regarded layout within Minnesota golf circles, valued for its use of natural terrain and the thoughtful routing that takes advantage of the property's wooded, rolling character.
