THE TUXEDO CLUB
🇺🇸 Tuxedo Park, NY, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
The Tuxedo Club's golf course exists as a living monument to a bygone era of American sporting aristocracy. Hewn from the rugged, rolling hills of Tuxedo Park, NY, its design reflects the Golden Age sensibilities of its architect, Robert Trent Jones Sr. The course favors a strategic, thoughtful approach, as tight fairways and subtly contoured greens penalize errant shots and reward precision. Its routing takes full advantage of the natural topography, presenting golfers with a variety of challenging doglegs and strategically placed bunkers that demand careful club selection.
While it might not resonate in the broader national golf conversation, The Tuxedo Club's course remains a beloved and respected test of golf within the New York metropolitan area. Its enduring charm lies in its commitment to classic design principles and its challenging, yet fair, layout. Though updated by Rees Jones, his father’s masterful imprint remains.
More than just a sporting venue, The Tuxedo Club maintains a membership steeped in tradition and history. The club itself has seen its share of prominent members, contributing to the overall ambiance. The club's elegant clubhouse, with its imposing presence and old-world charm, enhances the feeling that the membership and those who play here, are stepping back in time, if only for a brief moment.
Reviews
Was fortunate enough to be hosted here for a Friday morning round. Just a beautiful golf course tucked into the hills of Tuxedo Park. Very tough opening stretch of holes, excellent par 5s, and generally thoughtful routing (loved the shared teebox on 16). Road hole reminded me of Merion.
