The Tree Farm, carved from the sandy loam of South Carolina's Midlands, doesn't whisper of manicured grandeur, but rather echoes with the satisfying thud of a well-struck ball against the pines. Its charm lies in its unassuming nature, a refreshingly unpretentious haven for those who relish the game's inherent challenges.
Designed by Russell Breeden in the late 1980s, The Tree Farm presents a straightforward yet engaging parkland layout. The fairways, generous in width, invite bold drives, while strategically placed bunkers and subtly undulating greens demand thoughtful approaches. This is a course where a well-placed fade is rewarded, navigating the doglegs that frequently bend around the towering pines that give the course its name. Water comes into play sparingly, adding an element of risk-reward without overwhelming the golfer.
While it may not boast a history of major championships, The Tree Farm holds a special place in the hearts of local golfers. It's a place where the focus remains squarely on camaraderie and the pure enjoyment of the game. The clubhouse grill is known throughout Lexington County for its surprisingly refined shrimp and grits, a post-round tradition for many members and guests alike. A local favorite for league play and weekend rounds, The Tree Farm offers an escape from the pressures of everyday life, inviting golfers to embrace the simple pleasures of the sport.
Reviews
What a fun, enjoyable and brilliant round of golf. Safe off the tee, challenging and fun options into gettable pins and some cool funnel putts and approach play. Gatorade, tree monster logo and hospitality as good as advertised/rumoured. What a place.
This course is really fun. Great layout with plenty of interesting holes. Also has great shot variety with some long par threes but also some short par fours. I think that Old Barnwell is slightly better but still an awesome spot. They also have two really cool logos and the pro shop is nice but as expected quite expensive.
This is how golf should be played!
The service and The Tree Farm is the best. Right when you pull in and you see bits and pieces of the course you know you’re in for a treat. The course is amazing and a great walk to take in everything. The course design by Zac, Tom, and Kyle is great. April at The Tree Farm doesn’t get better. Plus the Tree Monster logo is one of if not the best logo in Golf. Can’t wait to get back.
One of the most fun and thoughtfully designed modern golf courses I’ve ever played. Hospitality is unbelievable as well. Bravo TF team!
Tree Monster has gotta be top 5 course logos. Place has so many details. Really fun match play style course with many gettable par 4s, high risk high reward 5s, & some crazy greens.
Played in their member guest the Pinewood Derby. Place is totally finished but it’s as good as it gets. Really nice balance of fun, quirky, and difficult holes. The finish is spectacular with a punc bowl par 5, short tough par 3 and drivable par 4. They did everything right here and their head pro is an absolute 10. If you get a chance you have to go.
Golf as it should be. Genuinely doesn’t get any better than here. From the people to the amenities to the golf course, all perfect.
Best logos in the game and best layout in SC I’ve played…Staff is super friendly and welcoming from the time you pull up…Caddie Xander was outstanding and very fun to take a loop with! The surrounds are gorgeous, fun and challenging and the amenities (canned Gatorade!) are beyond top-notch…Greens, fairways and tee boxes were ultra-pure and the clubhouse screams of luxury and class…2nd best course I’ve played thus far
Great routing flowing with the movement of the land. Conditions were great. Great mix of long holes and short holes to make you hit most clubs in the bag. Staff is incredible
