THE SHARON GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Sharon Center, OH, USA
Designed by George Cobb

The Sharon Golf Club sits in Sharon Center, a small community in Medina County in northeastern Ohio, roughly equidistant between Akron and Cleveland. The course was designed by George Cobb, a prolific mid-century architect best known for his work in the Carolinas and throughout the southeastern United States. Cobb's portfolio includes several notable tournament venues and resort courses, and his designs typically emphasize strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward thoughtful approach play. His work at The Sharon represents one of his projects in the Midwest, outside his primary geographic focus.
The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of this part of Ohio, where glacial activity shaped the landscape into gentle hills and natural drainage corridors. Mature tree-lined fairways and traditional parkland aesthetics define the layout, with holes routed through wooded corridors and across open meadow areas. Cobb's design philosophy here likely follows his standard approach: playable for members while incorporating enough strategic variety to test better players, with emphasis on positioning off the tee and accuracy into greens rather than extreme length.
The Sharon Golf Club operates as a private facility serving the local community in this rural part of Medina County. The club provides a traditional country club experience for its membership, centered around golf and social activities typical of mid-sized private clubs in the region.
Reviews
The most underground course in the state of Ohio. And, that’s how they like it. The Sharon Golf Club is as good of an experience as they come. Solid course that has undergone extensive renovations over the past five years, finally the course is in a “run” state. With a minuscule membership, Sharon has an emphasis on top tier hospitality and being nothing more than a whisper to the few that have ventured the grounds. You can play all day and not see more than a couple of groups. The staff is exceptional, the course delivers, and salad bar is life changing. If you can, do your best to experience Sharon first hand.
