The Roxburghe at SCHLOSS Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course

The Roxburghe occupies a secluded estate setting near Kelso in the Scottish Borders, approximately an hour south of Edinburgh. Designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1997, the course was laid out across parkland that forms part of the historic Roxburghe Estate, with the Teviot River defining much of its western boundary. Thomas routed the eighteen holes through mature woodland and open meadows, creating a layout that moves between sheltered, tree-lined corridors and more exposed stretches along the river valley.

The design incorporates natural features of the estate landscape, including stands of beech and oak that frame fairways and define playing corridors. Bunkering follows a traditional style, with sand placed to challenge both tee shots and approaches on the longer par fours.
