THE RAVEN GOLF CLUB AT THREE PEAKS
🇺🇸 Silverthorne, CO, USA
Designed by Dana Fry, Dr. Michael Hurdzan, Tom Lehman
The Raven at Three Peaks sits at approximately 9,000 feet elevation in Silverthorne, Colorado, making it one of the highest regulation golf courses in North America. Designed by the team of Hurdzan-Fry with input from PGA Tour professional Tom Lehman and opened in 2000, the course occupies dramatic mountain terrain in the heart of Summit County, surrounded by the Gore and Tenmile mountain ranges. The high-altitude setting affects play significantly, with shots carrying farther in the thin air while the short growing season and environmental conditions present unique maintenance challenges.
The routing works through natural terrain features including rock outcroppings, native grasses, and stands of pine and aspen. The design incorporates the steep topography rather than fighting it, with elevation changes throughout the round that provide views across the valley and surrounding peaks. Several holes play along or across natural ravines and gullies that give the course its name. The layout requires thoughtful club selection given both the altitude effects and the mountain terrain, with forced carries and uneven lies common.
The course serves daily-fee and resort play in a region known primarily for winter skiing, offering summer golf in a genuine alpine environment. The Raven represents one of the more accessible mountain golf experiences in Colorado's high country, located just off Interstate 70 between the resort communities of Breckenridge and Vail.
Reviews
Fun course with a lot of elevation change
One of the least enjoyable rounds I’ve ever played. Charged full price for my wife to ride along despite there being 3 groups playing the entire day. Pro shop was the most disrespectful guy I’ve ever seen working in a golf shop. Just a. Miserable day all around. Cannot tell you to stay away fast enough. Geeens were covered in sand. Not a top dressing. Like 3 inches of thick sand.
