THE RANCHES GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Eagle Mountain, UT, USA
Designed by Ron Garl
The Ranches Golf Club sits in Eagle Mountain, a rapidly developing area in the western Utah Valley, roughly forty miles southwest of Salt Lake City. Designed by Ron Garl and opened in the early 2000s, the course occupies high desert terrain with views of the surrounding mountain ranges that define the region. Garl, a Florida-based architect known for working across varied landscapes, routed the layout to incorporate the natural elevation changes and open character of the site.
The course plays through rolling terrain with native grasses and scattered vegetation typical of the high desert environment. Water features appear on several holes, providing strategic interest and visual contrast against the arid setting. The design emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating enough length and hazard placement to challenge better players. Fairways are generally generous, though approach shots often require precision to elevated or contoured greens.
The Ranches serves as a public facility in a region where golf infrastructure has expanded alongside residential growth. The club offers a straightforward golf experience focused on the course itself, with amenities suited to daily-fee play. The setting provides a sense of openness and space, with the distant peaks of the Wasatch and Oquirrh ranges visible from many points on the property. For golfers in the Salt Lake metropolitan area, it represents an accessible option in the western valley corridor.
Reviews
I was a member here for just under 2 years. Course is well maintained aside from tee-box fatigue early and late in the year and the membership deal cant be beat!
Was once great but redesign ruined some holes
