THE OREGON GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 West Linn, OR, USA
Designed by Ken Kavanaugh, Peter Jacobsen

The Oregon Golf Club sits on a forested hillside in West Linn, a suburb southwest of Portland. Designed by touring professional Peter Jacobsen and architect Ken Kavanaugh, the course opened in 1995 as a private facility. Jacobsen, an Oregon native who played on the PGA Tour for three decades, partnered with Kavanaugh to create a layout that takes advantage of the property's natural elevation changes and stands of Douglas fir.
The routing moves through rolling terrain with significant grade shifts, requiring thoughtful club selection and course management. Fairways are carved from dense woodland, creating a secluded feel on most holes. Water comes into play on several holes, and the design incorporates both strategic and penal elements reflective of 1990s American course architecture. The greens feature moderate to bold contours, and bunker placement emphasizes position off the tee.
The Oregon Golf Club has hosted regional amateur events and collegiate tournaments, serving the competitive golf community in the Portland metropolitan area. The club maintains a traditional private club atmosphere with a membership drawn largely from the surrounding communities. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse that overlooks the course and the Willamette River valley below. The setting provides views of the Cascade Range on clear days, though the primary character of the course remains defined by its wooded, parkland style rather than distant vistas.
