The Ocean at Phoenix Golf & Country Club

The Ocean course at Phoenix Golf & Country Club is one of three championship layouts at this expansive facility in the Huayyai district of Chonburi Province, situated in the hills east of Pattaya. Designed by Denis Griffiths, a prolific architect in Southeast Asia during the 1990s and early 2000s, the course reflects his approach to working with Thailand's varied terrain, incorporating elevation changes and natural contours into the routing. Phoenix Golf & Country Club developed its courses during Thailand's golf boom, when the region around Pattaya became a popular destination for both local and international golfers.

The Ocean course takes its name from distant views toward the Gulf of Thailand, though the property itself sits inland among rolling hills and valleys. The layout features significant elevation changes, with several holes playing uphill or downhill across the property's natural topography. Water hazards and bunkers are integrated throughout the design, typical of Griffiths' work in the region. The course is maintained to accommodate year-round play in Thailand's tropical climate.

Phoenix Golf & Country Club operates as a semi-private facility, hosting both members and daily-fee visitors. The club includes practice facilities and a clubhouse serving Thai and international cuisine. The Ocean course, along with its companion layouts at Phoenix, contributes to the concentration of golf courses in the Pattaya area, which has established itself as one of Thailand's primary golf tourism destinations over the past three decades.
