THE MINIKAHDA CLUB
🇺🇸 Minneapolis, MN, USA
Designed by Donald Ross, Robert Foulis, Ron Prichard, Tom Bendelow, Willie Watson
The Minikahda Club, resting along the shores of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, lays claim to hosting the youngest-ever winner of a USGA Championship. In 1916, Bobby Jones, just 14, won the U.S. Amateur here, forever etching the course into golfing lore.
Designed during the Golden Age, the parkland course presents a strategic test defined by its mature trees, undulating fairways, and subtly challenging greens. The course, while not exceptionally long, rewards thoughtful play, favoring those who can navigate the strategically placed bunkers and subtle doglegs. Precision is rewarded as the greens are notoriously difficult to read.
Originally designed by Donald Ross, the course has seen thoughtful renovations over the years, including a significant update by Ron Prichard to restore Ross's original vision. While not a regular stop on the professional circuit, The Minikahda Club maintains a respected position in the region, a place where members value tradition and camaraderie.
Known for its strong member culture, The Minikahda also serves as a social hub, fostering a sense of community that extends beyond the fairways. Stories abound of club members and their antics over the years, contributing to its local charm.
Reviews
My first private course on my own rankings. I have a lot to knock off but so far this is the best in the state of what I have played. I love the walk and the layout so much. The location on the lake is amazing and they have the best logo in the state.
An amazing piece of property, the type of course you can’t stop thinking about after the round.
The best spot in Minneapolis to spend a day.
One of the best pieces of land in the midwest also happens to have an excellent golf couse. The greens, collars, and appraoches were immaculate last visit. The attention to detail on the grounds is impressive to say the least. I'll never understand crossing the street after #1 but that's just me. Few golf course I love to be at, this is one of them.
Holy Cow!!!!!! This restoration is unbelievable and one of the more enjoyable walks in Minnesota, Wow.
