The Mines Resort Golf Club occupies a former open-pit tin mine in Seri Kembangan, roughly fifteen kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur. Robert Trent Jones designed the course in the mid-1990s, transforming the exhausted mining landscape into a golf facility built around and through the remnants of industrial excavation. The routing makes extensive use of the site's water features—lakes and flooded pits left by decades of tin extraction—which now define much of the playing character and visual setting. Jones's design incorporates the dramatic elevation changes and water edges inherent to the reclaimed land. Several holes play along or across the large central lake, and the routing moves through varying terrain that reflects both the mining history and subsequent land restoration. The course stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees and features the architect's characteristic bunkering style and green complexes. The combination of water hazards, mature landscaping established since opening, and the scale of the former mining operation gives the layout a distinct sense of place within the Malaysian golf landscape. The club sits within a broader resort development that includes a hotel and convention facilities. The Mines has hosted professional events on the Asian Tour and serves both resort guests and local membership.
