GENOA LAKES GOLF CLUB & RESORT
🇺🇸 Genoa, NV, USA
Designed by John Harbottle III, Peter Jacobsen

The Lakes at Genoa Lakes Golf Club & Resort sits in the Carson Valley of western Nevada, near the historic town of Genoa at the base of the Sierra Nevada range. Designed by touring professional Peter Jacobsen in collaboration with course architect John Harbottle III, the layout takes advantage of the dramatic mountain backdrop and the valley's natural terrain. The course occupies relatively flat to gently rolling ground, with the Sierra peaks providing a striking visual frame to the west.
The design incorporates water features that give the course its name, with several holes playing alongside or across ponds and wetland areas. These water elements add strategic interest to what might otherwise be straightforward valley golf, requiring careful club selection and shot placement. The routing moves through a mix of open meadow and more defined corridors, with native grasses and high desert vegetation framing many holes.
As part of a resort property in the Carson Valley, the facility serves both members and visitors exploring the Reno-Tahoe region. The setting offers a contrast to the heavily forested mountain courses found at higher elevations nearby, presenting a more open, links-influenced character shaped by the valley's high desert climate. The course benefits from its proximity to Lake Tahoe and the surrounding recreational areas, drawing golfers who appreciate the combination of accessible terrain and mountain scenery.
Reviews
