THE KITTANSETT CLUB
🇺🇸 Marion, MA, USA
Designed by Fredrick C. Hood, William S. Flynn

The Kittansett Club, poised on the edge of Buzzards Bay, is where the raw spirit of links golf collides with New England charm. The course, routed along a peninsula in Marion, Massachusetts, offers a bracing test against the elements, a reminder that golf, at its purest, is a dance with nature’s whims.
Architect William Flynn, known for his masterful shaping and strategic bunkering, crafted Kittansett's original layout in 1922, expertly using the rumpled terrain to create a compelling and ever-changing challenge. The design favors those who can flight the ball low into the wind, while the course's doglegs and subtly contoured greens place a premium on thoughtful approaches. The club is known to be very private, yet unpretentious, attracting a membership that cherishes the simple joys of the game and camaraderie.
Kittansett's enduring appeal lies not only in its strategic design but also in its intimate connection to its surroundings. The wind howls off the Atlantic, the views are sweeping, and the experience feels distinctively maritime, the occasional rogue wave adding to its lore. The club itself has a reputation for its hearty chowder, a welcome warmth after a bracing round, embodying the club's down-to-earth character.
While not known for hosting major championships, Kittansett remains a cherished destination for those who appreciate the traditions of the game and the beauty of the New England coastline, a place where the spirit of golf endures, as steadfast as the tides.
Reviews
Underrated. In the shadows of OS, TCC, BGC and Eastward Ho! Worth the trip.
What an experience. Idyllic setting, weave your way from seaside links to marsh and woodland and back out to the coast. Such a great set of greens, lovely bunkering and mounding. Wind was a real factor (steady 15-20mphs all round LOL) and can certainly add difficulty to the course. If invited to play…. Go go go!
played several high school matches here against Tabor academy... would always SPRINT the back 9 to play as many as possible. such a treat
Every single time my favorite golf experience and has been for years. The saying every hole is unique could not be said enough about this place. Every club in the bag will be used and it will expose your weaknesses. Plays differently from the time of year to the time of day. My most memorable golf shots I’ve ever hit were here. Never broke 80 still my white elephant.
