THE CONCESSION GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Bradenton, FL, USA
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Jacklin Design Group

The Concession Golf Club takes its name from one of golf's most memorable gestures of sportsmanship: Jack Nicklaus conceding a short putt to Tony Jacklin on the final green of the 1969 Ryder Cup at Royal Birkdale, resulting in the first tie in the competition's history. Nicklaus and Jacklin later partnered to design this course, which opened in 2006 on rolling terrain unusual for Florida's Gulf Coast. The property features significant elevation changes—rare in the state—with fairways that move through natural ravines and over ridges, creating a playing experience more reminiscent of the Carolinas than typical Florida layouts.
The routing takes advantage of the site's topography, with holes playing across and along the contours rather than simply over flat ground. Several holes feature dramatic downhill tee shots or approach shots to elevated greens, and the natural movement in the land creates strategic interest throughout the round. The course is built on former phosphate mining land, and the designers incorporated the existing elevation into a layout that emphasizes shot values and course management over length alone.
The Concession operates as a private club and has hosted competitive golf, including NCAA Championship events. The club's name and founding partnership between Nicklaus and Jacklin reflect an emphasis on the traditions and spirit of the game, and the course itself represents a collaboration between two players from opposite sides of a historic Ryder Cup moment.
