THE ESTANCIA CLUB
🇺🇸 Scottsdale, AZ, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio
Nestled in the high Sonoran Desert of North Scottsdale, The Estancia Club stands as a testament to meticulous design amid a landscape of iconic saguaros and dramatic mountain vistas. The Tom Fazio design, while not considered a course of major championship pedigree, carves a compelling path through the desert scrub, demanding strategic shot-making more than raw power.
Estancia, opened in 1995, reflects the era's design ethos of visual intimidation softened by playability. Fairways are generous, however, strategically placed bunkers and subtly contoured greens protect par. The course favors players who can shape the ball, with several holes demanding precise fades and draws. The club undertook a refresh to the greens in 2016 led by Fazio’s design team.
The club's membership, drawn largely from successful business leaders and avid golfers, appreciate the exclusivity and understated elegance. Known for its unpretentious atmosphere and impeccable service, The Estancia Club is an ideal retreat for those seeking a challenging yet rewarding golf experience coupled with a tight-knit community.
After a round, members gather to enjoy The Estancia’s Southwestern-inspired cuisine and the camaraderie that defines the club. The vibe is less about formal dinners and more about shared stories and lighthearted ribbing after a day spent battling the desert landscape. It's a place where the satisfaction of a well-played round outweighs any need for pretense.
