The Currituck at The Currituck Club

The Currituck Club occupies a distinctive setting in Corolla, along North Carolina's Outer Banks. Designed by Rees Jones with Greg Muirhead and opened in the late 1990s, the course sits on a narrow barrier island where the Atlantic Ocean meets Currituck Sound. The layout takes advantage of the natural elevation changes found on the Outer Banks, modest by mountain standards but significant for coastal Carolina golf. Several holes offer views across the sound or toward the ocean, and the property's native vegetation—live oaks, yaupon, and sea grasses—frames the playing corridors. Jones, known for his work on U.S. Open venues, incorporated strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward precision while allowing recovery options for resort and member play.

The Currituck Club operates as a private facility within a residential community, though it has historically offered limited access to outside play. The course serves both local members and visitors to the northern Outer Banks, a region better known for beaches and wild horses than golf.
