The Bull Course
Sheboygan Falls, WI, USA

The Bull at Pinehurst Farms stakes its claim as Wisconsin's only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, a distinction that brings with it both expectation and the weight of a legendary name. Carved into the rolling landscape of Sheboygan Falls, the course embodies a modern architectural ethos, rewarding power off the tee while demanding strategic acumen on approach. Its generous fairways belie the challenge, as subtle breaks and undulating greens keep even the most seasoned players guessing. Nicklaus' design seamlessly integrates the natural contours of the land. This isn't links golf nor a deeply wooded parkland layout, but a clever blend that exposes golfers to both the open sky and the occasional wooded lane, favoring those who can work the ball. Doglegs tempt aggressive lines, and strategically placed bunkers penalize the wayward shot, encouraging a thoughtful, rather than purely athletic, approach. While The Bull hasn’t hosted major championships, its reputation within the region is that of a stern but fair test. Players enjoy a course that meanders past fields of native grasses and ponds that come into play on several holes. The 18th, with its demanding approach to a well-guarded green, provides a fitting conclusion to a round that consistently asks the player to rise to the occasion. Beyond the course, The Bull is known within its community for its friendly but challenging atmosphere. The clubhouse grill is a local favorite, especially during summer where the local members and visitors unwind after a round.

Golfers say this Jack Nicklaus design offers a challenging test with demanding target tee shots and firm conditions that reward precision over power. Most praise the course's value, noting it costs significantly less than nearby Kohler properties while still delivering quality conditioning and memorable scenery, particularly during fall foliage. Reviewers find the layout difficult but fair, with excellent greens that hold approach shots, though some mention conditioning has slipped recently. The course rarely feels crowded, and golfers recommend bringing extra balls to navigate the demanding layout, which many consider a must-play for Wisconsin residents seeking a premium experience without premium pricing.

Gorgeous track by Jack Nicklaus (only one in Wisconsin for now) must play if you live in Wisco, bring plenty of balls
If you enjoy getting kicked around a golf course, tip out the bull. Unfortunately I do think the conditioning has fallen off recently but it’s a good value.
Played in the fall and colors were amazing. Very difficult course with many target tee shots with less than driver. Greens were very good and soft. Worth the money for sure especially compared to Kohler courses nearby
Only Jack Nicklaus course in Wisconsin - just down the road from Blackwolf Run. Although the design is very predictable, it’s always in great shape, never busy, and a quarter of the price of the Blackwolf Run courses, let alone Whistling Straits.

The journey to The Bull at Pinehurst Farms begins at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport, roughly an hour's drive north along Interstate 43 as it traces the western shore of Lake Michigan. The route gradually sheds urban sprawl for the rolling dairy country and glacial moraine that define Sheboygan County, where red barns and cornfields give way to the wooded ridges surrounding Sheboygan Falls. The final approach winds through quiet rural roads before revealing the property's dramatic topography - a fitting prelude to one of the Midwest's most boldly sculpted modern courses.
